  • Step 1: Remove & Clean Shoe Laces

Start by removing the laces from your shoes to wash them separately. Pre-soak them in a bowl with some mild soap if they’re particularly dirty, then place them in the washing machine on a high-temperature setting. For shoes with no laces, skip to the next step.
  • Step 2: Remove Visible & Loose Dirt

Minor scuffs and dirt are inevitable on shoes, but they can be easily managed. For leather or canvas shoes, brush off loose dirt with a brush (or tooth brush), then lightly dampen a paper towel or use a shoe cleaning wipe to gently clean off surface dirt. If you have suede shoes, skip the wet towel. Instead, use a suede brush—first the brush side to clear away surface dirt, then the eraser side to tackle scuffs and deeper marks. Work in the same direction as the material (rather than going against the grain).
  • Step 3: Deep Clean Your Shoes

Prepare a cleaning solution by filling a medium-sized bowl with warm water and adding a splash of very mild detergent. Dip a clean towel in the solution and gently but thoroughly apply it to the shoe’s surface, focusing on removing as much of the stain as possible. For suede shoes, avoid using water excessively as it can damage the suede. If using the ALDO gel cleaner, press product against the sole and upper of the shoe to release the gel, then scrub in circular motions using the brush applicator. Once cleaned, use a separate damp towel (with water only) to wipe away any leftover cleaning solution. For stubborn stains, gently scrub using a soft toothbrush. Allow the shoes to dry naturally.
  • Step 4: Protect & Maintain Your Shoes

Once your shoes are clean and dry, waterproof and protect them from future stains and water damage. For suede and canvas shoes, use a protectant spray, applying it from a distance of 6–8 inches for even coverage. For leather shoes, opt for a water-resistant lotion and conditioner to not only protect but also moisturize and restore the leather's appearance. Consistently reapply every 2-3 weeks to ensure your favorite shoes maintain their durability and look their best for years to come.
